Seychelles Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism met his Hungarian counterpart in Budapest on 2nd July on the second leg of a 3-nation tour in Central Europe.

In their meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade overlooking the Danube river Minister Sylvestre Radegonde and the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Péter Szijjàto, discussed a series of issues ranging from opportunities for foreign direct investments by Hungarian investors in Seychelles to scholarships for Seychellois students.

Following their tête à tête and business lunch, the two top diplomats met with representatives of the local media to make a statement each. Minister Radegonde later met with a prominent Hungarian investor who is finalising a tourism-related project in Seychelles which will also be the largest Hungarian investment undertaken in an African country.  Minister Radegonde will also meet with the group of 6 Seychellois who are studying medicine in Hungary before rounding off his 3-nation tour of Central Europe with a 2-day working visit to Croatia.

Seychelles and Hungary are world champions when it comes to vaccinating their respective population against COVID-19. While Seychelles boasts being the country in the world with the highest percentage of its population vaccinated against COVID-19, Hungary prides herself on being the most vaccinated country in Europe. Minister Radegonde who is being accompanied on this tour by the Chargé d’affaires at the Seychelles embassy in Paris, Mr Ralph Agrippine, arrived in Hungary from Vienna, Austria where they were part of the Seychelles Delegation led by President Wavel Ramkalawan who took part in the 5th edition of the Austria World Summit.
