Accreditation of Ambassador Radegonde to Italy

On Thursday 23rd May, 2019, during a ceremony at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, Seychelles Paris-based ambassador, Sylvestre Radegonde, presented his Letters to the Italian President, Mr. Sergio Matteralla, accrediting him as Seychelles Ambassador to Italy.

Ambassador Radegonde conveyed to President Matteralla the warm and friendly greetings of President Faure as well as the thanks and appreciation of the Seychelles government for Italy’s support to Seychelles over the years.

Italy and Seychelles enjoy excellent relations which the President and the Ambassador agreed now needed to be broadened and deepened. They noted the important role that the increasing number of Italian tourists to Seychelles and the significant number of the Seychellois diaspora in Italy can continue to play in enhancing the relations between our countries and peoples.

Other discussions centred on environment protection, maritime security, among others.

Ambassador Radegonde highlighted the great importance that Seychelles attach to the promotion of the Blue Economy as a crucial element for the sustainable development of coastal as well as Small Island Developing States and expressed the desire to see Italy’s continued engagement in this and other fields of mutual interest.

Ambassador Radegonde was accompanied at the ceremony by Mr.Paolo Adelmann, Honorary Consul General of Seychelles in Rome.
