Accreditation of Dr. Rex Mpazanje as the new Resident Representative for the World Health Organisation (WHO) to Seychelles.

Dr. Rex Mpazanje presented his credentials to Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism in a ceremony which took place this morning at the Foreign Affairs Department, Maison Quéau de Quinssy.
Dr. Mpazanje is from Malawi and he is the new Resident Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Seychelles.
Minister Radegonde warmly welcomed the new Resident Representative and extended gratitude to the WHO for the collaboration we have shared over the years and for the invaluable support provided to Seychelles, especially relating to COVID-19. Dr. Mpazanje commended the Government in its vaccination efforts and leading policy direction in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. He reiterated that vaccinating the population is the key to overcoming the pandemic and allowing the continuation of economic and social activities.
Dr. Mpazanje emphasized the importance of consolidating the work of his predecessors in order to increase collaboration and partnerships between the government and WHO in order to overcome challenges related to universal health and well-being among all Seychellois. He also informed Minister Radegonde that he will be in charge of working on the renewed Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS), which will have the aim of strengthening our health system and assisting the Ministry of Health to position itself to foster broader and holistic health care.
Minister Radegonde concluded the meeting by informing Dr. Mpazanje that he could count on the support of the Foreign Affairs Department in the discharge of his duties and wished him success during his tenure in office.
