African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights on promotion visit to Seychelles

A delegation from the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, led by Honourable Commissioner Yeung Kam John Yeung Sik Yuen, is on a visit to Seychelles from the 6th to 10th of April on a promotion mission.

The mission aims to promote the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and all other international human rights instruments; to strengthen the collaboration between the ACHPR and the Government of Seychelles in relation to the promotion and protection of human rights; and to assess the level of enjoyment of the population of Seychelles of such rights.

During his five-day visit, the Commissioner and his delegation will call upon President Michel, Vice-President Faure, Minister for Foreign Affairs Joël Morgan, UN agencies, non-governmental agencies and civil society organizations, as well as other relevant stakeholders.

The Commissioner’s observations and recommendations will be presented at an upcoming session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights; his preliminary observations will be communicated during a press conference on the 10th of April in Seychelles.
