African Peer Review Mechanism briefing session

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) today hosted a briefing session for The Technical Preparatory Mission of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).

The APRM delegation comprised of H.E Ambassador David Pierre, Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to the African Union, Dr. Messan Koffi Adorgloh, Country Review Principal and Dr. Valery Yao Yao, University Accession Coordinator.

Local stakeholders present were representatives of the FIU, Family Affairs, Local Government, the Judiciary of Seychelles and Media Commission as well as DFA staff from both the International Cooperation and Regional Integration Division and Foreign Policy Division.

This session marked the acceding of Seychelles to the African Peer Review Mechanism that will take place in February 2020 at the African Peer Review Forum in Addis Ababa. Ambassador Barry Faure, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Blue Economy addressed the parties present emphasizing on the commitment of the Government of Seychelles to this process which is incorporated in the “Government’s core values on good governance, transparency, accountability and democracy.”

“Seychelles continues to strongly advocate for the importance of these principles to ensure a strong and well established foundation for the socio-economic development of Seychelles and its people” he further highlighted. Ambassador Faure also called out to the stakeholders to remain active contributors and supporters of this critical process that will benefit Seychelles today and in the future.
