Ambassador Accouche presents her credential letters to the newly elected Cuban President

In a ceremony held in the Palacio de la Revolucion on Friday October 11, 2019, Ambassador Lalatiana Accouche presented to her Letters of Credentials to H.E Mr. Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Republic of Cuba, accrediting her as the new Ambassador of Seychelles to Cuba, in the presence of the Cuban Foreign Minister, H.E Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

After conveying his best wishes to President Danny Faure, President Diaz Bermudez expressed his appreciation for the state of the bilateral relations between the two island states and renewed Cuba’s commitment to rally more efforts to further deepen these existing bonds and elevate engagements to greater heights, for the benefits of the two peoples.

The President also pointed out that the setting up of Seychelles Embassy in Havana and the accreditation of Ambassador Accouche are not only a clear symbol of the deep fraternity and the longstanding ties between the two countries, but also constitute another motor for achieving these objectives.

On her side, Ambassador Accouche, having transmitted the greetings and warm congratulations from President Danny Faure and the People of Seychelles for the election of H.E Mr. Diaz-Canel Bermudez as the new President of the Republic of Cuba, reiterated that during her tenure no efforts will be spared to tap all possible avenues for the consolidation of the already excellent collaboration and friendship. Also, she reiterated the gratitude and appreciation of the Seychelles government for Cuba’s significant contribution to Seychelles advances in medicine, human resources development, sports, and agriculture, among others.

Presently, approximately eighty Cuban experts are working in Seychelles and more than two hundred and fifty Seychellois have been trained in Cuba in various fields.

Seychelles and Cuba established diplomatic relations forty one years ago, on April 12, 1978.
