The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Ambassador Barry Faure, held a productive bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Dhananjay Ramful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius, on the sidelines of Raisina Dialogue being held in New Delhi.

The discussions served as a precursor to the official visit of President Dr. Patrick Herminie to Mauritius next week, where he will attend as the Chief Guest for the Independence Day celebrations of Mauritius.

This upcoming visit is expected to be a milestone for bilateral relations, providing a platform to formalize cooperation through the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

The ministers discussed the war in West Asia and the measures their countries are taking to mitigate its impact. They agreed that they had to turn increasingly to their immediate neighbourhood and to regional frameworks to find ways of resolving their challenges in sectors like maritime and air connectivity, trade, fisheries and maritime affairs, energy supply and food security, amongst others.

It is worth noting that through high level exchanges, and following a request by the Seychelles Trading Company, the Government of Mauritius has facilitated the emergency shipment next week of a contingency of cooking oil from the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius. Seychelles Minister Faure took the opportunity to convey the appreciation of President Herminie and the government and people of Seychelles for this friendly act by the government of Mauritius.
