The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora wishes to inform the public that, following the evolving security situation in the Middle East region and Cyprus, the Embassies of the Republic of Seychelles in Abu Dhabi and Paris have undertaken measures to assist Seychellois nationals affected by the situation.

In this regard, the Embassy in Abu Dhabi implemented an evacuation operation to facilitate the safe return of Seychellois nationals who had been stranded in the United Arab Emirates. Despite encountering some challenges, the evacuation operation was successfully carried out and enabled the movement of Seychellois nationals from the United Arab Emirates to Muscat, Oman, for onward repatriation to Seychelles.

A total of 140 Seychellois nationals were repatriated on an Air Seychelles flight. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Embassy in Abu Dhabi with the assistance of Air Seychelles and Emirates Airline continues to work towards facilitating the safe return of those who remain affected.

Furthermore, an Air Seychelles flight from Paris with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Paris and the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, facilitated the return of ten Seychellois students stranded in Cyprus who arrived in Seychelles today, Saturday 7th March.

The Ministry wishes to reassure the public that it continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Seychellois nationals abroad. Ongoing efforts are being undertaken in coordination with relevant partners to assist Seychellois citizens who may be affected by the evolving circumstances.

The Ministry will continue to provide updates as necessary.
