First Meeting of the Joint Commission on Cooperation between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Seychelles

ABU DHABI, 27-28 November 2018
Keeping in view the close relations and multi-faceted bilateral cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Seychelles, and in pursuance of the strong desire on part of the leadership of both countries to widen and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, the first Session of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Seychelles and the Government of the United Arab Emirates was held in Abu Dhabi, from 27th to 28th November 2018
The meeting was co-chaired from the UAE side by H.E Mohammad Sharaf, Assistant Minster of Economic and Trade Affairs and from the Seychelles side by H.E Ambassador Barry Faure, Secretary of State and Executive Head of the Seychelles Department of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by high-level government officials from the esteemed Ministries and relevant Institutions of both countries.
The discussion was held in a friendly atmosphere, reflecting strong ties between the two countries. Both sides discussed issues related to the enhancement and promoting bilateral cooperation in the following fields, Bilateral Relations, Cooperation in the Consular field, Cooperation in Security, Trade, Tourism, Economic, Customs, and Investment Cooperation, Science and Technology, Human Resource Development, Sports, Culture, Infrastructure, Transportation, Environment, Energy, Climate Change, Agriculture and Bio security
Both sides completed the review of the agreement on “Political Consultations between the Seychelles Department of Foreign Affairs and the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation” and signed the agreement on 28th November 2018.
The next meeting will take place in Seychelles, on mutually agreeable dates, which will be communicated through the diplomatic channels.
