Dr. Kevin Shillington delineates the life and times of former President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr. France Albert René in The Father of Modern Seychelles. A Biography. Following its official launching by the President of the Republic of Seychelles Mr. James A. Michel, at State House on  3rd June 2014, the biography will now be launched at the Brunei Gallery, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), in London, United Kingdom January 26th 2015, from 6p.m to 8p.m.

France Albert René: The Father of Modern Seychelles. A Biography, reveals the story of a man who has changed the history of Seychelles —by removing Seychelles’ subjectivity to post-slavery and by building a present cohesive multi-cultural society—and also depicts the childhood life and political career of Mr. France Albert René.

The launching ceremony will be hosted by the Seychelles High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Marie-Pierre Lloyd, in collaboration with the Centre of African Studies (CAS) and the SOAS.

The launch of the biography at the Brunei Gallery—one of the galleries in Central London dedicated to presenting and promoting cultures of the Middle East, Asia and Africa—will be an opportune moment to reveal a crucial era of the history of Seychelles and its political landscape to the British public.
