Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Conducts Executive Development Program on International Business

Seychelles is hosting a five day Executive Development Program on International Business being organized by the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). The programme has materialized as a result of the strong cooperation that exists between the Indian Government and Seychelles.
The programme aims to provide awareness on international business environment and will focus on a number of issues particularly relevant to the Seychelles context, such as supply chain management, international marketing strategies, import-export procedures and documentation; understand international trade and logistics.
The official launching of the programme was held on Monday 10th June 2013, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean Paul Adam, the Indian High Commissioner, H.E. Mr. Thanglura Darlong and other invited guests from the Government and business community.
In his opening Speech the Director General of the Development and Regional Integration Division for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kenneth Racombo, noted that as a prospective member of WTO, Seychelles can gain invaluable experience from India’s long-standing membership within that organization, and that Seychelles, as a Small Island Developing State, can benefit immensely from these leadership skills.
The training programme is being attended by over 30 participants comprising of entrepreneurs, the public sector and non-governmental organizations, as well as private sector representatives, and is being facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation from the IIFT is being headed by lead by Dr. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, the Professor and Chairperson on the International Projects Division of the IIFT.
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade
The IIFT was set up by the department of Commerce of the Government of India in 1963 and is one of the premier management institutes in the area of international Business. The Institute conducts Educational programmes such as MBA (International Business), part time MBA in International Business for working professionals, Executive Post-Graduate Diploma in International Business, certificate course on export management, international business languages and global trade logistics and operations. The institute also conducts research and takes up consultancy for government and multilateral organisations. It has conducted several research studies with organizations like the World Trade Organisation, World Bank, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
As part of its International Projects agenda, the institute has been entrusted the responsibility to conduct customized Capacity building Programmes on International Business in various parts of Africa countries in order to foster relationship with partner countries. The Institute has conducted a series of capacity building in various African countries namely: Ethiopia, Egypt, Botswana, Namibia, Angola, South Africa, Uganda, Senegal, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Sudan and Mauritius. The programmes are aimed at developing required skills and professional competency among entrepreneurs, government officials, professionals and corporate executives.
