Minister Sylvestre Radegonde receives the United Nations Resident Coordinator

Minister Sylvestre Radegonde received the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC), Ms. Lisa Singh, to discuss cooperation matters on Thursday, 17th August 2023.
The meeting, held at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, served as an opportunity for Minister Radegonde to convey the Government’s gratitude for all the support that the United Nations (UN) have extended to Seychelles throughout the years through the various agencies present or based outside of Seychelles. “The Seychelles Government is committed to continuing to work with your office. Your work is without doubt in the best interests of Seychelles. We need to look beyond tourism and fisheries – in the efforts to diversify and maximise our economy.” stated Minister Radegonde.
Agreeing with the proposal for increased regional integration by Ms. Singh, Minister Radegonde informed that “regionally we can do much more through joint positions”.
Addressing the aspects of cooperation, the UNRC enlightened the Minister on the work surrounding the UN Cooperation framework and the elements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to align with the country’s National Strategy. Ms. Singh also commended the Seychelles Government for pushing for the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index on the international fora as a topic in the global conversation.
Other topics discussed were the tourism industry and current affairs of the region.
