Minister Valentin heads delegation to UNESCO General Conference

Dr. Justin Valentin, Minister for Education, is leading the Seychelles delegation at the 42nd Session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) which opens in Paris, today 7th November.

Minister Valentin is leading the delegation in his capacity as chair of the National Commission for the UNESCO. He is expected to address the General Conference on Friday 10th November during the general policy debate. Minister Valentin will also be a panelist in a symposium to mark the 60th anniversary of UNESCO’s International Institute of Education Planning (IIEP-UNESCO).

While in Paris, Minister Valentin will also hold talks with UNESCO’s Assistant Director General for Education, Mrs. Steffania Giannini, as well as the administrator of the Organisation International de la Francophonie, Mrs. Caroline St Hilaire.

The other members of the delegation are Ambassador Georges Tirant, Mrs. Shirley Choppy, Mrs. Vicky Michel, Mr. Jacques Belle, Mrs. Hannah Pool, Ms. Begita Jeannevol, Ms. Elaine Naiken and Ms. Angelique Juliette. To note, Ms. Juliette is the Seychelles representative at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum which will take place on the 13th and 14th November 2023.
