New Seychelles High Commissioner to New Zealand and Australia

High Commissioner Waven William has presented his letter of accreditation to the Governor General of New Zealand, Mr. Jerry Mateparae in a ceremony held in Wellington on May 16th.

During their meeting the High Commissioner and the Governor General discussed the on-going issues of piracy in the Indian Ocean region, with a commitment to engage further on the issue.

High Commissioner William took the opportunity to extend the thanks of the People and Government of Seychelles for the educational cooperation with New Zealand in particular for the University Scholarships awarded over past years.

Earlier in April, High Commissioner William, who is the Resident High Commissioner in Delhi, India, also presented his credentials to Governor General Ms Quentin Bryce in a ceremony held at Government House in Canberra on March 27th.

During their meeting issues of maritime security, tourism as well as environmental protection and climate change.

The High Commissioner also took this opportunity to extend the congratulations of the Seychelles Government on Australia successfully securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council of 2013-2014.
