Newly accredited Nigerian High Commissioner pays courtesy call on Minister Radegonde

The newly accredited Non-resident High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Yusuf Yunusa, paid Minister Sylvestre Radegonde a courtesy call today, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, following the presentation of his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan, at State House.
Minister Radegonde welcomed and congratulated the High Commissioner on behalf of the Government and the people of Seychelles. Both parties engaged in discussions on Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs, which included a keen interest in concluding the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA), for the mutual benefit of both countries.
The Director General for Bilateral Affairs, Ms. Lindy Ernesta, who was also present in the meeting, made reference to the continued support of the Nigerian government, through the Technical Assistance Corps (TAC) scheme, which Seychelles has benefited from in numerous fields, such as education, health, planning, land use, medicine, IT amongst others.
On his part, the High Commissioner praised Seychelles’ success as a tourism destination and noted the interest of the Nigerian government to learn from Seychelles’ tourism sector, as the main pillar of the Seychelles economy. Minister Radegonde welcomed this proposal and extended an invitation to the High Commissioner to visit the Seychelles Tourism Academy on his next visit.
Amongst other topics of discussions were possible conclusion of a visa waiver agreement, capacity building and exchanges in areas such as defence and police cooperation.
Seychelles and Nigeria established diplomatic relations in 1977.
