Newly Appointed Country Director for International Labour Organization (ILO), Presents Credentials to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles

Mr. Frederick Muia, the newly-appointed Country Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office in Antananarivo for Madagascar, Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles, presented his letter of credentials to Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Tuesday 12th December 2023.

During the meeting, Mr. Muia underlined the importance of continued collaboration and noted that he valued the engagement between the ILO and Seychelles. He commended the achievements made in the tourism sector, towards promoting sustainable development. also expressed his sympathy for the recent tragedies of the 7th December 2023, and noted that the ILO stands ready to provide the necessary support to the country.

Minister Radegonde, in turn, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to its longstanding partnership with the ILO, which spans over four decades. He emphasized that this collaborative relationship serves as a cornerstone in the shared commitment to promoting decent work, fostering inclusive labour practices, and advancing sustainable development goals. The ongoing cooperation, as highlighted by Minister Radegonde, will play a crucial role in supporting the Government’s activities and efforts to enhance the well-being of the workforce, ensuring fair and equitable employment opportunities for all.

Mr. Muia succeeds Mr. Coffi Agossou, who has recently been appointed as the ILO Deputy Regional Director for Africa, based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
