President Herminie extends message of solidarity to President Marcos and Prime Minister Ibrahim amid recent disasters
Following the recent severe weather events in South East Asia, the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, has conveyed messages of solidarity to H.E. Mr. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, and H.E. Mr. Anwar bin Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
In his message to President Marcos, President Herminie stated:
“I was profoundly saddened to learn of the devastating impact of the recent intense typhoon season in the Philippines. The successive impacts of Typhoon Kalmaegi, Typhoon Fung Woon, and Tropical Storm Koto have caused immense loss and devastation to families and communities across the country.
The recurrence of these severe storms in such close succession is a painful reminder of the challenges posed by climate change, and of the uncertainty it brings to vulnerable communities and coastal nations around the world.”
In his message to Prime Minister Ibrahim, President Herminie expressed:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the torrential rains and severe flooding across Malaysia, resulting in widespread displacement and destruction caused by Tropical Storm Senyar.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles, I wish to convey our heartfelt sympathy to all those affected by this natural disaster. We commend the swift and dedicated response of the Malaysian authorities and emergency services in safeguarding lives and restoring stability during this difficult time.”
The President added:
“Seychelles stands in solidarity with the resilient and courageous people of the Philippines and Malaysia.”
