President Michel Congratulates Newly Elected Kenyan President

March 8, 2013

President James Michel has extended his sincere felicitations to the newly elected President of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, following the final vote count announced earlier today.

“Your victory as Kenya’s first president under the new constitution bears testimony to the confidence that the people of Kenya have in your capacity to lead the country to even higher levels of prosperity,” said President Michel.

In a congratulatory letter sent on behalf of the People and Government of Seychelles, President Michel reiterated his commitment to Seychelles’ close cooperation with the Kenyan People and Government and expressed his commitment to exploring new avenues in their bilateral relations:

“We believe that our partnership, based on shared values and common goals, can make a real difference in addressing global and regional challenges. Our collaborative approach in fighting the scourge of piracy has shown that our two countries have the common will and determination to ensure that our common aspirations live up to our expectations.

“We look forward to continue working with you to further expand our cooperation, including in tourism and transport, and promote peace and security. We would welcome the opportunity to meet you to develop further our mutual priorities and the next stage in our relations.”
