President Michel Congratulates Prime Minister designate Modi and expresses appreciation to outgoing PM Singh

President James Michel has congratulated the Prime Minister designate of the Republic of India, His Excellency Narendra Modi on behalf of the Government and People of Seychelles on what President Michel described as a momentous electoral victory.

In his message, President Michel said that 500 million Indians peacefully exercising their right to vote was proof of India’s commitment to further strengthening a well-established democracy. He further stated that Mr Modi’s election was testimony of the confidence the Indian people have entrusted to his leadership in achieving greater success and prosperity.

President Michel assured Mr. Modi of his personal commitment and that of his Government to continue to work closely, and strive to further strengthen the excellent relations that exist between New Delhi and Victoria.  President Michel mentioned the high value Seychelles attaches to the two countries relationship describing it as intertwined strategic partnership with deep people to people links.

“We in Seychelles, therefore, not only share the aspirations of the people of India for sustainable development and growth, but also remain steadfast in our support to the Government and people of India in their endeavours to pursue that goal. We will therefore continue to seek further deepening of the partnership between our two countries for the benefit of our two peoples ” said President Michel.

President Michel mentioned India’s positive engagement towards Seychelles across a wide spectrum of bilateral relations including; defense, education, health and culture whilst also noting India’s contribution to the socio-economic development of Seychelles with credit lines and grants.

It was the President’s wish that India and Seychelles continue to collaborate and maintain their thriving natural partnership. This consolidated approach is a display of the countries mutual desire for the pursuit of global peace, stability and prosperity.

President Michel conveyed his best wishes and thanks for the tireless efforts of outgoing Prime Minister, Manhoman Singh in promoting the excellent relations between the two countries, during his tenure. The President described Mr. Singh as a true statesman and a friend who contributed greatly to shaping a better future for the world.

“India and Seychelles enjoy a special and excellent rapport. This rapport continues to grow from strength to strength. And, I am pleased to underscore that during your term in office you have always done your utmost to bring renewed vitality to our already solid bilateral cooperation” the President remarked.
