PRESIDENT MICHEL MEETS MS. ANTOINETTE MONSIO SAYEH

Ms. Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, Director of the African Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) paid a courtesy call on President James Michel this morning at State House. Ms. Sayeh was accompanied by Mr. Jean Le Dem, Deputy Division Chief of the African Department of the International Monetary Fund.
Ms. Sayeh is in Seychelles to see for herself what has been achieved since the reform started back in 2008 and to also have direct interactions with the authorities and to discuss the results of the program in addition to making sure that those result are safeguarded.
President Michel and Ms. Sayeh have pursued discussions in regards the Macro Economic reforms, the ownership of the process, the challenges and uncertainties of managing the reforms and ensuring that Seychelles continues to be able to demonstrate good results in economic management for its people as well as other reform programs currently being considered.
“The Government of Seychelles appreciates the support of the International Monetary Fund and the assistance to mitigate the situation; we look forward to continuing the good relationship,” said President Michel.
Ms. Sayeh has thanked the President for his good leadership thus making it easier for everyone involved to input the technical expertise required.
Also present at this meeting was the Minister for Finance, Mr. Pierre Laporte, Governor for the Central Bank of Seychelles, Ms. Caroline Abel and Secretary of State in the Office of the President, Mr. Barry Faure
