President James Michel is undertaking a one day official visit to Libya at the invitation of Colonal Muammar al-Gaddafi, the Leader and Guide of the Revolution.

President Michel will be meeting with his counterpart to further enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries.  It is to be recalled that the Libyan government announced in February the cancellation of 50% of Seychelles’ debt and the rescheduling of the remainder on favourable terms.

During the high level talks, the two leaders are expected to discuss matters of mutual importance such as the further development of the African Union as well as the continued threat of piracy.

The President will be accompanied by the Secretary of State in the Office of the President, Mr. Jean-Paul Adam, and Mr. Charles Sorry, First Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Seychelles’ Executive Director at the African Development Bank, Mr. Peter Sinon, will also be joining the President in Tripoli from his current base at ADB Headquarters in Tunis.
