Seychelles Ambassador accredited to Russian Federation

Ambassador Bernard Shamlaye recently presented credentials as Seychelles Ambassador to Russia to President Vladimir Putin in a joint ceremony involving 17 other Ambassadors in the St Alexander Hall in the Kremlin.

Ambassador Shamlaye conveyed to President Putin the best wishes of President James Michel and his wish to further the existing strong ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Russian Head of State expressed his satisfaction with the state of relations between Russia and Seychelles and noted in particular the good cooperation in combating piracy and growing exchanges in tourism. Discussions between the Ambassador and officials of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs covered a range of subjects including economic cooperation and investment, maritime security, and cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and sport.

Ambassador Shamlaye was also accredited as the Ambassador to Turkey and to Austria late last year.
