Mr Claude Morel became the first Ambassador of Seychelles to be accredited to Zimbabwe when he presented his Letters of Credentials to President Robert Mugabe at State House in Harare on Thursday 19th February 2015, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.

Ambassador Morel conveyed President Michel?s appreciation for the exemplary leadership President Mugabe has been providing to SADC since Zimbabwe assumed the chair of the regional organization in August 2014. The exchange of views focussed on the unity and solidarity in the SADC community, the prevailing peace and stability in the region as well as the dynamics of the regional integration agenda of the region. The holding of an Extraordinary Summit in April to take stock of the implementation of the decisions of the Heads of State and Government and to agree on a strategy and roadmap for the industrialization of the SADC region is a testimony of activity and work in progress.

Ambassador Morel transmitted President Michel?s congratulations to President Mugabe on his country?s assumption of the chair of the African Union on 30th January 2015.

From a bilateral perspective, relations between the two countries will be enhanced by the implementation of a General Cooperation Agreement as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in tourism matters. Zimbabwe has been participating in the Carnaval de Victoria as part of a cultural exchange between the two countries.
