Seychelles and India enforce their commitment to promote maritime security

Captain Anshul Kishore, Commanding Officer of Indian Naval Ship INS Tir, who is here this week to participate in the Exercise Cutlass Express 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy, on Tuesday 27 February 2024.

During their meeting, Minister Radegonde stated that “India is one of Seychelles’ oldest and closest partners, and we appreciate the ongoing collaboration between the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) and India’s Ministry of Defence.”

The two parties reinforced their commitment to promote and safeguard maritime security to counter the resurgence of piracy, transnational crimes and illicit activities in the Indian Ocean Region.

Captain Kishore expressed that during this visit, his crew will also participate in activities with the RCOC, theoretical training with members of the Seychelles Coast Guard, participate in cultural exchange programmes and interact with members of the Seychelles public.
