Seychelles and Indonesia teams up for bilateral family affairs

Minister for Family Affairs Mitcy Larue led a 7 person delegation to Bali, Indonesia, comprising of representatives of Health, Social Protection, Elderly and Family Affairs.  The main objectives of this mission was twofold: the first was to undertake visits to communities where the Ministry of Family Welfare and Family Empowerment of Indonesia is active, whilst the second was to participate in a 3-day Inter-Ministerial conference on South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) under the theme “Emerging Population and Development Issues: Influencing the 2030 Agenda”.

The highlight of the 3-day Inter-Ministerial conference was the signing of the Letter of Intent between Seychelles and Indonesia, respectively by Minister Larue and the Chairperson of National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) Dr. Sigit Priohutomo. 

The Letter of Intent will focus on Indonesia – Africa Centre of Excellence in Seychelles for technical cooperation, sharing of best experience and capacity building on family welfare, elders and youth generation towards the achievement of SDGs goals.

The Indonesian government has shown interest in Seychelles’ strategy for free admission to schools, health assistance and housing for the elderly.
