As part of her accreditation visit, the High Commissioner-designate of the Republic of Namibia to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Ms. Nangula F. Ithete, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, on Monday 14 September 2026, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two sides to review the longstanding bilateral relations between Seychelles and Namibia and to discuss ways of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, both sides underscored the importance of concluding several agreements and instruments, including the Bilateral Air Services Agreement, the General Cooperation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the two Foreign Ministries.

The discussions further explored potential areas for enhanced collaboration, including the establishment of a Joint Commission, as well as cooperation in tourism, sports and youth exchanges, particularly in athletics. Opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the Blue Economy were also highlighted, notably through the sharing of experiences and expertise in the fisheries sector.

Minister Faure reaffirmed Seychelles’ commitment to further strengthening its bilateral relations with Namibia and assured High Commissioner-designate Ithete of Seychelles’ continued support and cooperation throughout her tenure.

Seychelles and Namibia established diplomatic relations on 10 December 1991. H.E. Ms. Ithete will be the fourth High Commissioner of the Republic of Namibia to be accredited to the Republic of Seychelles.
