The Head of the European Union Delegation to the Seychelles, Ambassador Oskar Benedikt, held discussions with the Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, on Monday 22nd April 2024 at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

During their exchanges, Ambassador Benedikt provided a positive update on the Port Victoria Extension Project, which is being financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Union (EU), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Government of Seychelles.

The two diplomats also discussed possible activities to be financed under the ‘European Solidarity Action with Seychelles’ (EnSEL) programme. The EnSEL, which will focus on two main thematic areas, Environment and Climate Change, and Governance, has as objective the provision of capacity building and technical assistance to the Government in the two aforementioned thematic areas. The draft financing agreement for EnSEL is expected to be signed between Seychelles and the European Union shortly.

Maritime Security, Seychelles’ move from the Black list to the Grey list of the EU regarding non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, Anti-Money Laundering and the upcoming EU Political Dialogue were also raised during the dialogue.
