Seychelles participates the SADC Council of Ministers in Pretoria, South Africa

The Secretary of State and Executive Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Barry Faure, led the Seychelles delegation to the Council of Ministers Meeting of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) which took place on 26-27 March 2018 in Pretoria, South Africa.
The meeting was held in preparation for the SADC Summit that is scheduled to take place in August 2018 under the theme “Developing Industry and Regional Value Chains”. Some of the issues discussed included the SADC Regional Resource Mobilization Framework; Regional Security issues; the status of SADC projects and Finances and the Institutional Reform of the African Union.
Seychelles’ participation provided an opportunity for it to review the levels of its engagement within the SADC alongside areas where the country can further gain momentum in its works towards the SADC Regional Integration Agenda. Â
Ambassador Faure was accompanied at the meeting by High Commissioner Mrs. Marie-Antoinette Rose-Quatre, Resident High Commissioner in Pretoria who is also accredited to SADC, Mr. Charles Morin, Chief Negotiator, Trade Agreements for Seychelles, Trade Division, Ministry of Finance, Trade and Economic Planning, and Mr. Terry Rose, Third Secretary in the Seychelles High Commission in Pretoria.
