The President-elect of Tanzania, Dr John Magufuli, will be sworn in as the country’s next Head of State on Thursday 5th November 2016. The ceremony will take place at the Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

President James Michel will be represented by Mr Claude Morel, Non-resident High Commissioner of Seychelles to Tanzania. Some Heads of State from the region are expected to grace this solemn occasion.

It is to be recalled that Dr Magufuli of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) was declared victor of the election on Thursday 29th October after obtaining 58% of the vote. In his congratulatory message to Dr Magufuli sent on 30th October, President Michel remarked that the victory of the CCM’s candidate was a testimony of the confidence that the people of Tanzania have in that party which has brought progress and prosperity to the country over the last 50 years.

The outgoing President, Mr Jakaya Kikwete, has concluded his two terms in office, as prescribed by the Tanzanian constitution.
