SIDS Ministers meet leadership of UNESCO

Ministers of Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) leading the delegations of their respective countries at the ongoing 41st General Conference of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) met with the administrative leadership of this international organisation on 11th November. During this sideline meeting the SIDS Ministers were apprised by the Assistant Director Generals (ADGs) of UNESCO of the various programmes within UNESCO and their relevance to the SIDS agenda.

Education Minister Dr. Justin Valentin who is leading the 5-man strong Seychelles delegation at this 41st General Conference of UNESCO was among 10 ministers who physically attended this hybrid meeting which some 20 other ministers followed on-line.  

SIDS is one of the two priority areas of UNESCO. UNESCO will soon undertake a feasibility study on a proposal to upgrade SIDS into a global priority alongside Africa and gender equality.
