A group of twelve Swedish doctors arrived in Seychelles last week for a week-long Orthopedic Conference from the 26th October to the 3rd November at the La Digue Island Lodge. The conference was coordinated by the Seychelles Honorary Consul in Sweden, Mr. Lennart Swenson, and is part of an ongoing Seychelles-Swedish Educational and Medical Exchange Programme started in 1999 by Mr. Swenson and Mr. Alex Jacob who is based in Seychelles.

During their nine-day stay, the visiting doctors held workshops and study sessions in their specialist field of orthopedics and were joined by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Danny Louange in a workshop on Seychelles’ healthcare system on Thursday 1st November.

The last 19 years have seen over 500 students and teachers from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue benefit from this exchange programme.
