On Friday, 30th September 2022, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, hosted a ceremony in honour of four late Foreign Affairs Ministers at Maison Quéau de Quinssy. The aim of the event was to pay homage to the late Ministers for their invaluable contributions throughout their tenure of office.

Minister Radegonde stated, “The Ministers being honoured have contributed immensely to the development of relations between Seychelles and foreign States and International Organisations.  The four differed in their styles and personality but never on the substance of the defence and the promotion of the national interest. Their legacy continues to inspire and motivate us in our efforts to make our diplomatic action and outreach more pro-active, more responsive, to the changes and challenges that the world faces today”.

He further added, “They focused on identifying and creating opportunities for Seychelles, strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, attracting Overseas Development Assistance to our shores, and, later, Foreign Direct Assistance. The one lesson that young diplomats must draw from the legacy of these four former Foreign Affairs Ministers is that no matter how exacting is their chosen profession, how demanding are the exigencies of international relations, they should never give up”.

Those being honoured were Mr Guy Sinon, Mr. Jacques Hodoul, Mr. Maxime Ferrari and Mrs. Danielle de St Jorre.

Members of the family of the late Ministers joined Minister Radegonde in unveiling the plaques for the following:

  •   Salle Guy Sinon
  •   Atrium Jacques Hodoul
  •   Salle Maxime Ferrari
  •   Salle Danielle de St Jorre

Also in attendance were the past Principal Secretaries who served under the late Ministers, and officials of the Foreign Affairs Department.
