The Netherlands express gratitude to the Seychelles

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Seychelles, H.E. Ambassador Frans Makken, has written to the Seychelles Government expressing Netherlands gratitude for the assistance provided to its nationals, who have found themselves in need of Seychelles healthcare services during the COVID-19 crisis.
Ambassador Makken expressed that “The Republic of Seychelles and the Kingdom of the Netherlands have long enjoyed excellent bilateral relations. It is against that background that we wish to thank the Republic of the Seychelles for the excellent cooperation enjoyed during these challenging times wherin the Corona pandemic has affected nations and persons across the globe.”
The Dutch Ambassador further stated that “From the onset of this pandemic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands has found in the Republic of the Seychelles an excellent partner and has appreciated all that the Seychelles authorities have done to assist the diplomatic community and foreign nationals present in their territory. We are also grateful for the effective assistance provided to Dutch nationals who have found themselves in need of healthcare services.”
This morning the Department of Foreign Affairs also met with the Honorary Consul Designate of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Seychelles, Mrs. Irina Frederika Udwaida, where the two sides further articulated the longstanding commendable bilateral cooperation shared. Mrs. Udwaida conveyed a message from the Government of the Netherlands informing that the latter distances itself from all the contents and sentiments expressed in an article published recently in a Dutch newspaper ‘De Telegraaf’.
