The Norwegian Ambassador calls on Minister Payet

Norway has reiterated its intention to assist Seychelles in environment and energy related areas. The Norwegian Ambassador to the Republic of Seychelles, Ms. Ingunn Klepsvik, made these reassurances to the Minister for Environment and Energy, Professor Rolph Payet, this afternoon at Kempinski Resort. During the courtesy call, discussions revolved around renewable energy, the management of marine resources, geology and water management. In his capacity as Pro Chancellor of the University of Seychelles, Professor Payet also discussed the possibility of Universities in Norway, assisting UNISEY with the development of modules in the area of marine research, marine resources management and the management of oil exploration. The meeting with Ambassador Klepsvik comes a month after Minister Payet met with the Norwegian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Heikke Holmas, where water management and renewable energy were discussed as possible areas of cooperation between Seychelles and Norway. Minister Holmas also visited PUC’s Desalination Plant at Providence and the Power Plant at Roche Caiman. Ambassador Klepsvik who is based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania is in Seychelles on a four days working visit.
