Third virtual SADC Council of Ministers meeting

The SADC Secretariat and the United Republic of Tanzania as the Chair, hosted today, on 29th May, the 3rd virtual meeting of the SADC Council of Ministers.
The Seychelles’ delegation was led by Ambassador Barry Faure, the country’s National Contact Point to the organisation. He was accompanied by Ms Amenda Padayachy, Director General for International Cooperation & Regional Integration, Director for Regional Integration, Mr Jean- Paul d’ Offay, Second Secretary, Mr Rodney Sinon & Third Secretary Mr Jeremy Radegonde.
The meeting considered a number of salient agenda items, such as the socio-economic impact of Covid-19 & its implications on the SADC region, the finances of the organisation during Covid-19 period, disaster risk management & response etc.
In support to the discussions that ensued on the various topics, Seychelles urged the Council meeting to accelerate the work that Secretariat has begun to support the three remaining IOC countries – Seychelles, Comoros & Madagascar – with the alignment of their national industrialisation strategies & policies to that of SADC Industrialisation Strategy.
