March 20, 2026
StateHouse

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, through the Embassy of the Republic of Seychelles in Abu Dhabi, wishes to inform all Seychellois nationals residing across the Middle East that, given the evolving regional security situation, all nationals are strongly urged to stay alert, be prepared, and act responsibly at all times.

  1. Consider Travel to Seychelles or Safer Locations

Nationals in areas experiencing heightened tensions are strongly encouraged to consider returning to Seychelles or relocating to a safer country, where it is safe and feasible, using available commercial means. Travel arrangements must be made through channels approved by the authorities of the host country and in full compliance with local regulations and travel directives.

Nationals intending to leave the Middle East are requested to inform the Embassy in advance of their travel plans. This allows the Embassy to provide guidance, coordinate as needed, extend relevant support, and keep track of nationals remaining in each country.

  1. If Travel is Not Possible

Where travel is not feasible due to restrictions or disruptions, nationals are advised to:

  • Remain in a safe and secure location
  • Limit movements to essential activities only
  • Strictly follow the guidance and instructions of local authorities
  • Stay aware of workplace obligations and refer to the Embassy’s guidance on employment matters (see Section 9)
  1. Personal Safety and Situational Awareness

All nationals are advised to maintain a high level of situational awareness and:

  • Exercise caution in public areas, including malls, transport hubs, and commercial centres
  • Avoid large gatherings and sensitive locations, such as military or government buildings and critical facilities, but follow official guidance when accessing airports or transport hubs for safe travel
  • Identify nearby safe shelters or secure buildings
  • Maintain communication with trusted contacts regarding their location and status
  • Stay alert and vigilant at all times
  1. Stay Informed Through Official Channels

Nationals are strongly advised to:

  • Monitor updates from local authorities, the Embassy, and other reliable sources
  • Rely only on verified and official information from trusted sources
  • Avoid sharing unverified or speculative information
  • Check flight schedules and airline notifications regularly for any changes, cancellations, or rerouting
  • Stay in contact with airlines and travel agents regarding booking status
  1. Maintain Contact with the Embassy

All nationals are strongly urged to register with and maintain regular communication with the Embassy, as this helps the Embassy to:

  • Provide timely guidance and support during emergencies
  • Assist with immigration and travel procedures if evacuation becomes necessary
  • Provide urgent support to nationals who need immediate help
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of nationals in the region

Nationals are requested to:

  • Provide the Embassy with all necessary information, including copies of your passport, current residential address, and up-to-date contact details

  1. Prepare for Possible Travel Disruptions
  • Airspace closures and flight disruptions may occur with little notice
  • Plan ahead and limit travel to essential or safety-related purposes only.
  • Ensure all travel documents are valid, accessible, and securely stored (both physical and digital copies)
  • Be ready to travel at short notice if necessary
  1. Be Prepared for Contingencies

Nationals should:

  • Maintain a basic stock of essentials, including food, water, and medication
  • Ensure access to sufficient financial means
  • Keep mobile devices fully charged and ensure backup power sources are available
  • Prepare a “go-bag” containing essential documents, IDs, and other necessities
  • Ensure residency visas, IDs, and other documentation remain valid
  • Retain copies of employment contracts and sponsorship documents, where applicable
  1. Respect Local Laws and Regulations

All nationals must comply fully with the laws and regulations of their host countries, including immigration and visa requirements.

GCC countries have strict rules about sharing information. Nationals should only share publicly available, non-sensitive information. Do not capture or share images, videos, or details about:

  • Military operations or movements
  • Security forces or installations
  • Sensitive infrastructure or government facilities
  • Incidents that may affect public security
  1. Employment and Workplace Considerations

Seychellois nationals are advised to:

  • Stay in touch with their employers regarding safety and work availability
  • Follow any guidance or contingency measures from their employers
  • Consider remote or flexible work arrangements, if possible
  • Consult employers before making decisions to travel or relocate, and comply with local labour and immigration rules
  1. Recommended Action
  • Nationals who are able to do so are strongly encouraged to travel to Seychelles or relocate to a safe location using available means
  • Those unable to travel should stay in safe, secure locations, follow local authority guidance, and maintain regular contact with the Embassy

Furthermore, all individuals are strongly discouraged from undertaking non-essential travel at this time.

The Ministry wishes to reassure the public that it continues to closely monitor the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Seychellois nationals abroad. Ongoing efforts are being undertaken in coordination with relevant partners to assist Seychellois citizens who may be affected by the evolving circumstances
