UNDP launches Global Human Development Report 2014

The United Nations Development Program has launched its global Human Development Report today in Tokyo, State of Japan entitled ‘ Sustaining Human Progress: Reducing Vulnerabilities and enhancing Resilience.The global launch ceremony has taken place at the United Nations University Headquarters in Tokyo in the presence of the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinz? Abe, the United Nations Development Programme Administrator Helen Clark, and the Director of the Human Development Report Office, Khalid Malik.
The 2014 Human Development Report highlights the need for both promoting people’s choices and protecting human development achievements. It takes the view that vulnerability threatens human development and, unless it is systematically addressed, progress will be neither equitable nor sustainable.
This year, the parameters and calculations to evaluate individual states have been altered. Nonetheless, Seychelles maintains a ‘high level’ of Human Development and ranks 71st globally. In view of the this, Minister for Finance, Pierre Laporte will hold a Press conference tomorrow afternoon
