The “Dress One Million Needy Children” campaign, launched in July by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in July, visited Seychelles last week for the handing over of clothes to Seychelles’ orphanages. The delegation was led by H.E. Dr. Hamdan Musalam Al-Mazrouei, Chairman of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endorsements and also composed of members from the UAE Red Crescent, the implementing organisation of the campaign.

Children of all ages, from the President’s Village, Foyer de Providence, Foyer de Nazareth, and Foyer de Solitude, were present to receive clothing from the delegation during a brief ceremony held at the President’s Village in Port Glaud.

Mrs. Noella Gonthier, chief executive officer of the Seychelles Children’s Foundation as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were there to welcome the delegation and express thanks for the donations.

The children enthusiastically welcomed the delegation with songs and were happy to pose for photos as they received their gifts. Dr. Al Mazrouei informed that the campaign has already reached the 1 million target and are now aiming to double this figure.
