US Chargée d’Affaires pays courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism

The US Chargée d’Affaires, Mrs. Judes DeBaere, has today paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Mrs. DeBaere conveyed her congratulations to the Government and people of Seychelles for the peaceful transition of power, subsequent to the change of Government in October 2020. She added that the US government is pleased to have been able to partner with the Seychelles government in the vaccination campaign against the COVID-19, and look forward to the possibility of continuing this partnership in the future.  

On his part, Minister Radegonde expressed his gratitude for the donation of the Pfizer vaccine, which “has not only contributed to protect the Seychelles population but also the visitors.” Minister Radegonde further added that “The Tourism sector remains an important pillar of the economy and the Government aims to promote safe and secure travels for our visitors.”

Additionally, both parties engaged in bilateral discussions, particularly, on the recent workshop for gender based violence and cooperation in marine security, among others.

The US Chargée d’Affaires, Mrs. Judes DeBaere, is based at the US Embassy in Mauritius and is currently on a working visit in Seychelles.

Also present at the meeting were Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave, Director General for Bilateral Affairs, Ms. Lindy Ernesta and Third Secretary, Ms. Ingrid Labrosse.
